Game report

An early start to Sunday morning, we jumped on the bus for the long journey to Lulea.

The game started out quite flat; we could not get into rhythm and seemed to lack focus on both offense and defense. However, Erika Johansson got to the basket a couple of times and added 4 points for the quarter. Elin, Lisa, Sofia also contributed on scoring.

The second quarter got a lot better on the defensive end. We began to put some pressure on the ball. However, we let ourselves done by not securing the rebounds. However, it seemed that Lisa Sjöstrom worked hard every time to collect any rebound, particularly on the defensive end.

Lisa Åstrom got her first score in the beginning of the 2nd half. Shanie Jassu, Evelina Rönnbäck, Julia Jansson came on to spark the defensive intensity. They did a great job putting pressure on the ball and diving for steals. Elin Lindblom also defended the post well.

Jansson also hit a jump shot in the baseline which was important along with Eriksson hitting an important 3-point shot that saw Avan take a time-out to try to get their focus back. We were on a roll, starting with heavy ball pressure and good denial defense, we created a lot of steals.

However, we could not get the job done on offense as we turned the ball over or failed to get a good shot up.

Everyone that played worked hard - there is no doubt the effort was there. However, our focus was something that seemed to hurt us in the early part of the game. We must learn to keep focus throughout the game regardless of how things are going, we cannot allow ourselves to dig ourselves into more trouble. I was impressed with those that came on off the bench who worked very hard on defense to bring us back into the game.

Now, we move on. We learn from our mistakes and grow from our experiences.

Coach Jenny has prompted me to sit down and consider goals for the remaining part of the season. We sat for an hour or more on the bus discussing ways we can help the team grow and become better basketball players.
