Goals

Hej Ladies,

Firstly, we will most probably re-assess/test our lay-ups again on Monday. We will postpone the 'Some players will score lay-ups with limited pressure' until the following Monday (8th March).

We will give you some time to practice lay-ups before we test on Monday. Both Jenny and I believe most of you are capable of scoring all lay-ups! However, it looked like some of you were a little 'stressed' when we were testing!

You do not need to stress! We will not kick you off the team if you miss your lay-ups!

Secondly, the fast-break decision making seems to have improved significantly since the last week.

Finally, we still have not received everyone's individual goals. Jenny and I have spent time going through the ones we received. Unfortunately, we did not present a clear idea on how to set goals. These individual goals are for you and we would encourage you to spend time and consider 3-5, well thought-out, SMART goals.

Please see the information below, which will help all of you re-write your goals.

These goals are for your own personal development. They will help keep you motivated on what you are trying to achieve. By making goals, you will be able to improve as a basketball player week by week. You can not improve everything at once! Improvement takes thought, time, planning and hard-work.

SMART Goals

When considering your individual goals for the remainder of this season, please consider these factors below.

Specific

Give specific details about your goal; try to be clear!

Bad example: Become a better basketball player

Good example: Develop my left-hand lay-up.

Measurable

How do you think you will measure whether or not you have achieved your goal?

Bad example: Become a better basketball player. I will know if I have succeeded if Tony gives me a high five.

Good example: Develop my left-hand lay-up. I will have achieved my goal if I can score 9/10 left-hand lay-ups.

Attainable

Realistic

Make sure that the goals you set for yourself are possible!

Bad example: Become a better basketball player and play in the WNBA, making 100,000,000 sek per month.

Good example: Develop my left-hand lay-up. I will have achieved my goal if I can score 9/10 left-hand lay-ups. As of now, I can score 6/10.

Time-Scale

Give yourself a time for when you will achieve your goal.

Bad example: Become a better basketball player and play in the WNBA. I will achieve this goal sometime in my life.

Good example: Develop my left-hand lay-up. I will have achieved my goal if I can score 9/10 left-hand lay-ups. As of now, I can score 6/10. I hope to achieve my goal by 1st April 2010.
